Our initial plan was to go to the Chinese restaurant across the street but decided to come here for dinner. My hubby wanted to order noodle dishes but saw some dim sum. Kind of surprised we could order some at night. It was a limited selection but not bad. We'll have to try this during the lunch hours sometime. Would like to try the complete dim sum menu.

One of my favorites is rice porridge with thousand year old egg. Most places serve a rubbery egg but the egg here was tender and not chewy.

We also ordered chow funn noodles for the kids. I'm usually very critical of chow funn because I can never can find a chow funn that measures up to the ones from California. This was actually pretty good. We usually order take out from one place nearby but I wouldn't mind ordering from here now and then. My kids loved it so that speaks volumes.

Parking isn't too bad. You can just use the municipal parking lot across the street. Be aware of the homeless in the area and guard your bags.

I wish the place was bigger. It became very full after we sat down. I also noticed that there were no menus in the window so it was hard to see what kind of food was available. It would also be nice if they offered menu sets and not just ala carte.

Got to try their minute chicken cake noodle which took a while to get out to us but was definitely well done. The noodle they used was thin and crispy. Their mochi rice which was a bit light on the fillings but no complaints about the taste. The deep fried shrimp and egg tart were as good as others I've had.

Overall their selection could use expansion though they have everything I usually order.

Service is slightly better than the average dim sum restaurant. Parking is best found on the street or in a municipal lot.

I came here before it became Ginger & Garlic. I'm not sure what it was called before but I just came one day and it was Ginger & Garlic and I wasn't mad.

    Tips:
    1. Street parking and a pay to park nearby.
    2. If you're coming for dim sum come during the day. No look fun or custard tart at night.

I've been here a few times and I usually leave happy. Came here on a Wednesday night. Service was slow because we just came after a huge party. They filled 4 tables. Which is understandable. It was my first time dining there at night so that's how I learned they don't serve look fun or custard tart at night. I was so sad because those are my two favorite things to eat when I eat dim sum.

Half moon - So much peanuts/nuts! Did not care for this.
Sui mai - Very delicious! Probably top 3 I've ever had.
Chicken feet - Lots of flavor and very tender.
Mochi rice w/pork - Really good. Lots of flavor.
Xiao long bao - Not the best I've had. Probably the worst I've had. My piece had no soup whatsoever. It was dry and had a very strong ginger flavor that wasn't pleasant at all.

Just because I didn't have the best experience I'll still be back because I know this place is good from past experiences. I just won't come at night since they don't serve my favorite dim sum items at night.

I do wish that Maui had a dim sum place.  So when visiting Honolulu dim sum was on the list for us.  We went to Ginger & Garlic with the mister's family.  They had eaten here the day prior and when they heard we wanted dim sum they suggested Ginger & Garlic.

Upon entry we were asked if we could leave at 11:30am because they had a large party coming in at that time.  We should've known that this was sign, but we were hungry and the mister's sister insisted the food was good here.

One thing is for sure...it's a clean restaurant.  It was almost immaculate.  Which...I have to say...sometimes is hard to come by in China Town.  Upon sitting, one of the servers came with a tray of food asking if we wanted.  I asked what the items were.  Her accent was a bit strong and asked kindly again to repeat.  She wasn't the most pleasant and huffingly repeated what she said.  It was then that I realized she was offering sweet almost dessert like items. Our table declined and we started ordering a items prior to the cart arriving.

The mister and I ordered, siu mai, spare ribs in black bean sauce and I grabbed a crispy looking something that made me go hmmmm.  Turned out that crispy looking something had a taro like taste and pork.  The texture wasn't pleasant to me nor was the taste.

The mister's family gave us Steamed Beef Ball that was super tasty, moist and comfort food like.  Fried Shrimp Dumpling that they gave with a sweet sauce.  It was nice and reminded me of my childhood eating at another dim sum place with my parents.  They also had Steamed Look Funn with Shrimp which also time warped me to my little girl days.

As with most dim sum places, they seem to pressure you to eat what they have.  You just sometimes need reply back bluntly (but nicely) no.

It really didn't live up to my dim sum expectations.  I'd go back if other options were not availability because they're too busy.

Looking for some chinese food? Go no further! This place has all the basics and typical chinese dishes plus dimsum. Came here for dinner and all the food was fine.

Mapo tofu - not spicy enough even though we asked for extra spicy but still good.

Ong choy with chili and bean curd - LOVE LOVE LOVE this dish even my cousins who hate veggies ate it.

Beef chow fun (dry) - sliced thin and thick because the noodles were either stuck together or piled up not sure why. It changed the taste of the chow fun which was not as good.

Char siu fried rice - we been craving rice for some reason and this came out pretty nice. Came with a decent amount of char siu but the veggies like carrot tasted like the ones you get out of the frozen bag.

Chicken - tad dry white meat but otherwise no complaints.

Fish casserole with tofu - sauce was ok i've had better. Fish was meaty but beware of bones. I love the veggies the most in this dish since it soaks up the sauce

Looks much nicer or less run down than the rest of chinatown
